Pima County’s texting and driving ban in effect during AAA’s “100 Deadliest Days.”
Pima County’s texting and driving ban is officially in effect. The ordinance bans drivers from using handheld electronics while they are on the road. However, drivers can still use their devices as long as it is in hands-free mode. This ordinance kicks off what AAA calls the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers. Historically, teen crash deaths increase during the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Distractions behind the wheel cause or are involved in 60% of teen crashes, according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.
