Furry Friends to Alleviate Travel Stress

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport introduces Navigator Buddies Program with pups.

If you’ve been to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport lately, you have probably noticed volunteers wearing the purple vets. In the fall, one of the nation’s busiest airport also added dogs to the roster, as part of a pilot program that involves having therapy dogs for stressed passengers. The dogs, like their owners, wear purple vets. However, the dog vets read “pet me.”  Just a few seconds with a therapy dog can ease the stress of something like a delayed flight.

The pilot program seems to be working. You can apply year-round. The next class of therapy dogs will begin interview on February 1-2, 2018. Orientation begins February 15 with training scheduled to start February 28.
