You Have to Sign a Disclaimer to Try This Spicy Ice Cream

Spicy Ice Cream

Eating ice cream is a great way to cool down, but one ice cream parlor is changing things up a bit.

Aldwych Café and Ice Cream Parlor in the United Kingdom has come out with a new ice cream you never thought was possible.

They call it the “Respire Del Diavolo”, which means the breath of the devil. This ice cream is so spicy, those who serve it must wear gloves so the mixture of the chili peppers does not irritate their skin.

This ice cream is 500 times hotter than Tabasco sauce because it contains the Caroline Reaper Chili pepper, which hits the SHU (Scoville) scale at 1,569,300. This scale is used to measure how spicy chili peppers are. For comparison, Tabasco sauce measures the SHU scale at 2,500 to 5,000.

According to their Facebook page, they make you sign a disclaimer prior to getting the ice cream and you must be at least 18 years old. In the disclaimer, it says that you are acknowledging that “there could be a risk of personal injury, illness and possible loss of life.” That gives you an idea of how hot the ice cream is.

In another Facebook post, they suggest you bring a friend just in case the ice cream is so spicy you need help getting home.

To get an idea of how hot the ice cream is, Aldwych Cafe posted a video of their employee eating the spicy ice cream.

Unfortunately, for you dare devils who want to attempt to try this spicy ice cream, we can’t find it in the U.S. So, for those of you who are adventurous and want to try the ice cream, I suggest you book your flight to the U.K. now because this specially made ice cream will not last long due to it being limited edition for the ice cream parlor.
