Toy Story 4 reaches $118 million opening weekend

PHOENIX — Pixar’s beloved Toy Story franchise topped box offices this weekend with the fourth installment racking in $118 million domestically. 

But, according to the studio, the anticipated opening weekend numbers were expected to make $22 million more. Toy Story 4 lands the fourth spot for biggest domestic opening of 2019 from Disney Studios with Avengers: Endgame ($357.1 million) leading the way, followed by Captain Marvel ($153.4 million) and Aladdin ($91 million).

The new Toy Story 4 has received critical acclaim with a score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4/4 rating from 

“Few blockbuster movie series are so likable and accessible to people of all ages and cultures, yet at the same time so rich in metaphor, philosophy, and dream language.”

The latest Pixar film brings the original ’95 cast back together for an epic adventure, Woody voiced by Tom Hanks, Buzz Lightyear voiced by Tim Allen and Bo Peep voiced by Annie Potts. New characters are introduced along the way with fan favorite, Forky being voiced by Tony Hale and legendary Keanu Reeves voicing Duke Caboom
