No Highway Closures for Labor Day Weekend

Arizona’s highways will not have any construction closures during the Labor Day weekend.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is not scheduling any new construction-related freeway closures from Friday through Monday evening, allowing drivers to get places with less hassle for the holiday weekend.  Restrictions in existing work zones, including on Interstate 10 in the West Valley, will remain in place. If you are planning to drive on parts of Interstate 17, you will see a reduction in speed limits. On Friday, northbound I-17 between New River and Sunset Point Rest Area will have its speed limit set at 55 mph, down from the normal 65 mph. The same stretch southbound will have the same speed limit reduction on Monday.

ADOT is reminding all motorists to obey speed limits, buckle up, and never drive impaired, as it hopes to prevent fatal crashes throughout the holiday weekend.
