The White House has experienced their fair share of golden compromises, including one that flushes.
It all started when the White House made a request to the Guggenheim in New York for Van Gogh’s 1888 painting “Landscape in Snow.” The Guggenheim’s curator didn’t exactly want to loan the painting. Fortunately, they were willing to gift the White House with an American treasure, their golden toilet.
“America”, a piece created by Maurizio Cattelan, was originally used by the average visitor. The notorious toilet could have been used by political figures on Pennsylvania Ave. That is, of course, if the White House actually accepted the offer.
