Cookies? Scones? Cupcakes? Cake? I mean who doesn’t love dessert for breakfast!

On the first National Bakery Day, we had to join the fun! This morning we visited Jewel’s Bakery and Café. If you love sweets then you are in for a treat!

This year, September 28th marks the first National Bakery Day and let’s be honest, who would not like celebrating this holiday? We jumped on this and visited one our local bakeries, Jewel’s Bakery.

Jewel’s Bakery is family-owned and operated. The best is if you have a gluten allergy, all their baked good are gluten-free! The owner Julie Moreno was there and showed us around the bakery, explaining what each of their offerings had.

When you visit Jewel’s Bakery and Café you must try the following:

  1. A classic vanilla buttercream cake with lemon curd and blueberry filling.
  2. Fudge Brownie
  3. Vanilla Buttercream Cupcake
  4. Lemon Cranberry Scone

Regardless of what your taste buds prefer, you will be able to find something here. Besides having some of the yummiest treats we have tried, they are also a full bakery and café utilizing mostly local ingredients. The bakery and café also supports local businesses and has dedicated a small section of the establishment to sell local maple syrup, coffee mugs, and their Jewel’s Bakery and Café branded t-shirts with puns like “gluten is for wussies” or “straight outta gluten.”

Jewel’s Bakery and Café is open Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., serving breakfast and lunch with hand-brewed Cartel coffee and locally-blended organic teas. To learn more about Jewel’s Bakery and Café, check out their website or follow them on social media!
