Phoenix businesses are hosting Anti-Valentine’s Day parties for those feeling painfully single.
Valentine’s Day is a dreaded holiday. They don’t call it “Singles Awareness Day” for nothing. Everything is pink, covered in hearts and achingly reminiscent of the relationship you used to be in. This year, instead of binge watching Netflix in bed (while eating the heart-shaped chocolates you bought yourself), mingle with other Cupid haters at these anti-Valentine’s Day events.
• Anti Valentine’s Day at Hula’s Modern Tiki
Do you really hate your ex for leaving you Valentine-less? Hula locations will mend your broken heart with Tiki cocktails and island eats. At the Phoenix location, you can burn a photo of your ex in a fire pit. If that’s not revengeful enough, you can skewer the photo on a voodoo doll at the Scottsdale location. The events begin around 3 p.m.
• Hateflix and Chill
The Found:Re Hotel in Phoenix is hosting an all-day happy hour with anti-Valentine’s Day food and drink specials. Beginning at 5 p.m, the hotel will offer free popcorn and three suitable movies: “Single White Female”, “The Break-Up” and “Fatal Attraction”. A DJ and burlesque dancer will perform.
• After Hours: Lovers/Haters
Are you in the mood to party? DJ duo DA+DA will spin a mix of songs about love and angst at the Phoenix Art Museum. The night will consist of a matchmaking scavenger hunt, photo booth, and cash bar. The event lasts from 5-8pm and general admission is $10.
• Hoppy Couples and Sour Singles
Wanting to drink your sorrows away? Dubina Brewing from Glendale will showcase special brews including Gun NGoses, Mango Sour, and Hibiscus Sour. The event will be from 6-8pm at HopWerks in Gilbert.
