Billboard Releases First Top 100 List of EDM Artists

For the first time, Billboard has released a list of the top 100 EDM artists.  They used data from 180,000 fan votes, touring and chart statistics, radio airplay, and album sales to compile the rankings.

Let’s start with the bottom 10. They may not be heavyweights in the EDM game now, but these artists’ accolades still got them a spot

100. A-Trak
A-Trak hosted the Goldie Awards last September and the stands were sold out! He has also performed at Lollapalooza, HARD Summer and Electric Forest, just to name a few.

99. Tokimonsta
An L.A. bred underground favorite, Tokimonsta’s 2016 “Fovere” EP got the 24th spot on the Top Dance/ Electronic Albums chart. Three of her singles from the album even have over three million streams each on Spotify!

98. Kayzo
Kayzo fuses trap, hard-style and high-octane performances in his music. He’s supported by big-name artists, such as Diplo and Marshmello.

97. The Black Madonna
2017 was quite a year for the The Black Madonna. She had over 100 stops on her 2017 tour schedule. Her 2017 original single “He Is the Voice I Hear” got over 1 million plays on Spotify.

96. Baauer
Following the release of Baauer’s 2016 album “AA”, he dropped remixed and original beats, including a collab with Kodak Black and PnB Rock.

95. Lost Frequencies
Lost Frequencies hit single “Crazy” rocked the music and streaming charts. The single got No. 38 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and 36 million streams on Spotify. He also opened for many dates on The Chainsmokers Memories Do Not Open tour.

94. Mija
The producer’s electronic style was featured in her 2017 “Time Stops” EP. Since then, she has switched to a raw style in songs such as “Bad For U.” She is set to perform at EDC Las Vegas and the Electric Forest and Movement Festival.

93. Cash Cash
The trio, which consists of brothers Alex and Jean Paul Makhlouf and Samuel Frisch, were on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs twice last year. Their song “All My Love,” which features singer Conor Maynard, got 70 million streams on Spotify. They are set to take the stage at this year’s Coachella.

92. Flux Pavilion
The Circus Records co-founder’s “Savage” is close to 50 million streams on Spotify. You can catch him headlining the Kansas City’s Dancefestopia in September with artists like Zeds Dead.

91. MK
Already climbing the charts in 2018, MK’s single “17” has more than 50 million streams on Spotify. He’s also done official reworks with big-name pop artists like Rihanna and Tove Lo.

90. Sofi Tukker
The duo Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halphern’s single “Best Friend” wasn’t just their first Hot 100 hit but also the song used for the iPhone X commercial.

Enough of that, now for the top 10…

The duo, consisting of electro-pop musicians Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight, released their album “A Moment Apart” last September and it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. They also racked up two Grammy nominations and had over 19,000 fans show up for the final stop on their 2018 A Moment In Time tour at the Barclays Center.

9. DJ. Snake
William Sami Etienne Grigahcine was a graffiti artist before his music started taking over the charts. Five of his singles landed on the Hot Dance/Electronic charts in 2017. He also appeared in Dr. Dre’s Above the Noise documentary in 2017.

8. Tiësto
Considered a pioneer of dance music, Tiësto headlined over 40 music festivals worldwide in 2017. He was the first DJ to perform at the Olympics back in 2004 when he played at the Opening Ceremony in Athens.

7. Zedd
Zedd accomplished many milestones in 2017. His collaboration “Stay” with Alessia Cara was multi-platinum and number one on the Hot Dance/Electronic charts for seven weeks. He also racked up a Grammy nom for the single.

6. Martin Garrix
With over one billion streams on Spotify last year, the 21-year-old had two songs on the Hot 100 in 2017.

5. Major Lazer
The trio consisting of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire headlined Billboard’s Hot 100 Festival in 2017. The group’s fourth album is expected to be released soon.

4. Marshmello
You may not know him by face, but Marshmello’s sound got him three songs on the Hot 100. His “Wolves” collaboration with Selena Gomez landed him the No. 1 spot on the Hot Dance/Electronic song charts for 11 weeks.

3. Kygo
The Norway native had a busy 2017. He had a Hot 100 hit with Selena Gomez in 2017, released his “Kids in Love” album and had a world tour with the same name.

2. Calvin Harris
Calvin Harris ditched the EDM sound for his “Funk Wav Bounces VOL. 1” album. The album featured songs from Migos, Ariana Grande, Lil Yachty and Kehlani, to name a few.

1. The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers got a Grammy nomination for the best pop duo/group. They have sold two million concert tickets and have 10 billion global streams. They also took Billboard’s top spot as the No.1 pop duo/group in 2017.
