I’m back in town after an all-too-short vacation in Hawaii.
We booked it just a few weeks ago after my husband had some unexpected time off between jobs. Jason and I visited the island of Kaua’i for the first time. We stayed in the completely picturesque Hanalei Bay on the North side of the island. Whenever we book a beach trip I always like to find a place that feels a bit less touristy and a bit more tropical… and this was the perfect spot.
In the mornings, we woke up early to walk on the beach and Jason would snorkel. The beach is just down the hill, a short walk from the Hanalei Bay Resort where we stayed for 4 nights.
Our room was essentially a condo with a full kitchen, so one night we made dinner in and ate on our patio, this is the gorgeous view.
Other nights we dined at the hotel’s restaurant which had great live music and great food. Not a bad view here either.
If your travels ever take you to this island and the Hanalei Bay Resort, which I would absolutely recommend, I would double read the room description and call with any questions. Not all rooms and views are created equal.
Other things not to be missed on the garden island: hiking and seeing the Na Pali Coast – it’s truly stunning to see the cliffs and hidden caves and beaches.
We snorkeled off the boat with sea turtles and dolphins swam along with us.
Oh and one more suggestion… If you’re there you must eat at Kountry Kitchen for breakfast. This is further down the coast located in Kapaa. Order the loco moco and substitute hamburger for kalua pig, eggs over easy. It’s eggs benedict meets country fried steak covered in gravy with the most flavorful and crispy pork I’ve ever eaten-wow!
See some of our vacation photos below, and hit me with any questions you have about our visit. I’d be happy to make some recommendations!
