Native American designer joins Disney for an exhibition project

Phoenix – A Phoenix family business started off as a greeting card company but transitioned into fashion preserving their family tradition through the arts named ACONAV.

“So comes from our Acoma Pueblo and Navajo tribe”, said Acoma Pueblo Designer & Loren Aragon

ACONAV is a Native American owned & operated couture fashion brand based in the Valley.

“The progression of the native arts that we have seen a lot of that coming forth. I really wanted to project that fashion a wearable art form that had meaning”, said Aragon.

This collection kind of magnifies the designs you see on the pottery work.

“The parrot always looked at a symbol of rain”, said Aragon.

Loren’s work has taken off.

While working in New Mexico, he was approached by a group that makes dreams comes true.

“We’re from Disney and we’re part of an exhibition that and we ask you if you want to be part of an exhibition”, said Aragon.

The Disney Imagineers asked Loren to design a dress.

“That would represent basically your culture and kind of our culture that you see our Disney culture”, said Aragon.

For the next five years, guest can view this dress as apart of the Creating Traditions: Innovation & Change in Native American Art at the Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida.

Along with catching Disney’s eye, he also was featured in Phoenix Fashion Week and the Tony Awards.
